The way I see things as long as keep the Georgia High School Graduation Test around more people are going to drop out of school. People see this test as a headache having come so close to receive a High School diploma knowing they have to pass four test in order to receive it.It is really stressing I think the Board of Education should put an end to the Georgia High School Graduation Test. If they could some how put an end to this test people will began to know that they can just go to school pass they classes receive a High School Diploma and move on with there lives.

Your article does not follow naturally from your headline. If this was an essay, what kind of grade would you get for not proving your thesis sentence?

There are several "studies" out there on vouchers. Depending on who is paying for the study, vouchers are either lousy or wonderful. Quoting a "study" without attribution so that a reader can investigate original sources for bias does nothing to advance an argument.

You do not make it clear how schools will manage to "choose" not to accept black students without violating federal law. Charging far above the voucher can segregate by income -- but who is to say that parents of color who have the money would not find that such a school met their needs for exclusivity? Who is to say that some parents of color would not prefer that their children attend a school that was mono-racial?

There is really no way to tell what kind of schools would result from tossing education out into the open market and this is the true problem with the voucher program. It is a radical change to an existing system based on utopianism. The unintended consequences, the excesses, and the outliers could very end up being equal to the problems of public education.

Only in times of disaster or crisis could such a solution be put in place. Case in point is New Orleans where a voucher fed education system has developed ad hoc. Anecdotal evidence is that scores are higher -- but who is to stay that the current population is not already self-selected for success?

It would be nice if there was an empirical study -- too bad that all the institutions who have the money to fund it also have agendas.

The person who helped to write Georgia's standards, Brad Findell, is now here in Ohio trying to do the same. Parents in the Hudson (Ohio) City School District are trying to thwart an effort to bring fuzzy math to the high school. It is already in and destroying K-8 (Investigations and CMP). It would be great if any of you in Georgia could let us know about your experiences. Here is the blog address for the parents group in Hudson, Ohio:

Moderator: My apologies if I have violated any "blog etiquette" by referencing another blog. If this not acceptable please feel free to disregard this post. I just think these so called "experts" move from state to state and want to start with a clean slate each time rewriting history as they go. It is important for parents to use any tool they can to hold these people accountable for the damage they cause. Thank you.
